British pop icon MARC ALMOND fears his new album VARIETE will be the last to feature new material – because he no longer thinks he’s a good enough songwriter.

The former Soft Cell star, who has covered songs by Jacques Brel and Vadim Kozin over the years, has revealed he’s planning to dedicate the rest of his career to singing other people’s songs.

He tells Britain’s Mojo magazine, “I had this spell where I wrote 30 songs over a two-year period – hence Variete. But I don’t think of myself as a songwriter, and I really don’t know when I’ll record another album of my own songs.”
